The Mayor's Thames Festival

Southwark, London. Saturday 13-14 Sept, 2008

The city over the tents in Potters Fields

The Great River Race was still continuing although the first boats had probably reached Greenwich by the time I was opposite the Tower of London

This was a Fair Trade stall with drummers and I ate some tasty fair-traded salted nuts  - rather better than other brands

I didn't try the candy-floss, though again I think it was fair-traded sugar. But it doesn't mix with beards

The feast was over on Southwark Bridge, but there were still a few eating - and rather more drinking

It began to sound like the wrong city - but check that bridge in the background

And on the other side

The liveliest part of the whole event seemed to be a straw-fight
