More Thames Path

Charlton to Belvedere, London. Monday 25 April 2011


 
There are glimpses of the river and these waste transfer barges though trees and over bushes

and across to Beckton

and the Barking Creek Flood barrier

A pill box

One of the larger tributaries of the Thames is the treated outfall from Beckton sewage works close to Barking Creek
 
 

Waste transfer containers are towed back upstream past Barking riverside





 

Past Barking is Dagenham, where Ford used to make cars in vast numbers

Now it still assembles huge numbers of diesel engines

With around a tenth of the workers it once employed  
 
 

The south bank has a green fringe here
