Lea Navigation & Olympic Site - Panoramas

Bow & Stratford Marsh. Saturday 1 October 2011

Mostly my panoramas are horizontal, but sometimes as here on the corner of Warton Rd I needed two vertical 16mm frames to get everthing in
The Waterworks River from Blaker St (it's the same rail at left and right that I was leaning on to take the picture)

CIty Mill Lock and St Thomas Creek in cylindrical projection

This was the first time I'd used the new footway along the west side of the Navigation under the Bow Flyover. St Thomas Creek in the centre of the picture

One of several boats taking people on a trip along the navigation

It came under where I was standing - a new footbridge across the navigation - and continued upstream

The path seems to hang over the river. I was finding it hard to tear myself away from this location, but eventually managed to walk across and up Marshgate Lane on on the the Greenway

For a 170 degree view of the Olympic site

This was the position I had picked for a series of panoramas when the bid was announced, but had been inaccessible for some time

Finally I arrived at the View Tube for the event - and this 160 degree horizontal view

But there was still time for a few more pictures - around 220 degrees.

Including some from the viewing platform at the View Tube

This is a just under 240 degree view, and I think a little too extreme

Roughly half the view - 120 degrees - taken a couple of hours later after the event - makes for a better picture, at least at this scale.
