Diggers at Runnymede Call For Freedom

Magna Carta Memorial, Runnymede, Surrey, Sat 16 Jun 2012

A police officer talks with those who have come to the meeting at the Magna Carta Memorial

Singing the Digger's Song at the Magna Carta Memorial

The police officer says goodbye to the group

Who decide to form a circle on the grass rather than meet around the actual memorial

both because the pillars make it harder to see each other and also to allow access to other visitors to the memorial

There was a long discussion about the issues, both historical and current

and a number of interesting proposals

in particular about how there might be a people's celebration of the 800th anniversary in 2015 as well as the official one

Around 4pm people decided to go and have a look at the diggers came site at the top of the hill
