Occupy vs the Arms Fair

Eastern Gateway, ExCel Centre, London. Sun 8 Sep 2013

The protesters met up at Prince Regent DLR (which was closed with just a replacement bus service...)

and they set off a couple of minutes before noon, walking the short distance

to the Eastern Gateway roundabout at the east entrance to the Excel Centre, immediately releasing some tents

four were already in place before I arrived, with police watching from a van in the distance

Dead on time the Critical Mass cyclists who had started from Bank arrived too

a couple of police liasion officers seemed rather baffled by everything

A group began to dance

and the cyclists kept cycling around the roundabout, including a unicorn

while some protesters locked themselves together in front of one of the gates to ExCel

Eventually the police noticed and came over to film them

Other protesters blocked the road with banners

and more tents sprang up on the roundabout
