IWGB Cleaners at Royal Opera

Covent Garden, London. Sat 3 May 2014

A group of cleaners and supporters from the IWGB arrived close to the Royal Opera House

and got ready to march there

The banner, drums and flags attracted considerable attention

and they were stopped by security and not allowed to enter the Royal Opera House

 Many had whistles too

and I was soon realising I'd not brought my eardrums

A man in a red hat, tie and trousers comes to argue with the cleaners

There must be some reason for him to dress like that. He obviously doesn't like drums

Royal Opera House Secuirty tell the protesters they are not welcome

despite the message above the door which says 'Welcome' The Opera House has got in extra security for the protest

Three workers have been sacked for union activities

and the IWGB demands they are re-instated

Alberto Durango tells everyone why the cleaners are protesting against the Royal Opera House and Mitie

The cleaners want an end to victimisation and for their IWGB union to be recognised and talked to

and for an end to favouritism and to be treated decently

with better pay and conditions
