IWGB Cleaners at Royal Opera

Covent Garden, London. Sat 3 May 2014

IWGB protesters make a lot of noise outside the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden

Posters about MITIE, who employ the cleaners and make a lot of money out of their hard labour - but fail to
treat them properly - cartoon shows CEO Ruby McGregor-Smith kicking a cleaner. She got £1.37m in 2013.

An opera-goer argues with cleaner's leader Alberto Durango. He seemed to feel they had no right to protest

Some others going to the opera were more sympathetic with the cleaner's case

A security guard came to restrain an angry man who grabbed Alberto

Police arrived in force and tried to grab one of the protesters

while her friends tried to keep hold of her

eventually police had her surrounded in a corner

It was not at all clear what they were intending to do - watching I felt they had no idea either
