Democracy Camp Fenced Out

Parliament Square, London. Tue 21 Oct 2014

People were being arrested for being on the grass at Parliament Square when I arrived. It's hard to understand why this should be an offence.

There were fences all around the grass and I had to photograph through the wire

People were handcuffed and then marched away to waiting vans.

The grass was damp, and there had been previous police actions to remove tarpaulins that people had sat on

leading to the Democracy Camp gaining the name 'Tarpaulin Revolution' - #tarpaulinrevolution

One protester had gone up to join Chuchill on his plinth shortly before I arrived, with a banner which read:

'The Revolution Will Not Be Confiscated - #tarpaulinrevolution Parliament Square'

Police stand around the plinth

and look up at 'PlinthGuy'
