Sotheby's 4 sacked for protesting

Old Bond St, London. Wed 8 Jul 2015

A police officer asks protesters meeting at Oxford Circus what they intend to do. Petros Elia and Percy, one of the Sotheby's 4 smile.

Percy was one of the 4 workers sacked by Sotheby's for protesting for sick pay, holidays and pensions

Protesters arrive at Sotheby's. Police try to move them away

but they stand and sit around the entrance

 and begin their protest

An officer tries to persuade Class War to move. They stay, holding the 'New Homes for the Rich' banner

The protesters are not blocking the entrance but want to make their presence clearly felt outside Sotheby's

'We want Bread but Roses too', a rallying cry from the 1912 strike by women textile mill workers in Lawrence, Massachusetts, adopted by other disputes

Class War women had come with some impressive water pistols

Police start to push protesters across the road

and drag one woman who refused to move

but others managed to stay for the moment
