Eritreans Vigil for Peace?

Downing St, London. Sat 18 Jul 2015

'We Support our Government and Respect Our President' - but it is dangerous for Eritreans, even those in the UK to do anything else

There are larger monthly protests also organised by FENQIL (or FenQ'l).The surprise attack in 1990 on the Ethopian army which captured Massawa is known as the FenQil (or Fenkil) offensive. Ethiopian citizens abroad are carefully monitored by the embassy who have been shown in several countries to be collecting an illegal tax of 2% on their earnings..

The man with the phone was there both times I visited

Eritrea has been described as the North Korea of Africa.

The UN COIE report on Human Rights paints a similar picture to that from other international agencies about the
terrible human rights abuses in Eritrea.

Around 5% of Eritrean population have fled the country. Roughly 10% are in the army.

The People’s Front for Democracy and Justice has ruled for around 25 years without an election
