Silverdale Holiday

Silverdale etc, Lancs Thu 27 Aug 2015

there were some fancy iron field gates

We walked past Gait Barrows to a path leading to Hawes water

 and then on

 Hawes Water

and then a path to Yealand Storrs

where we made the mistake of walking through Cringlebarrow Wood to Deepdale Pond. Some of the tracks we
had to walk on were full of ruts from heavy machinery and it was very muddy, While the pond was rather dry

The paths around the pond are marked on the OS map but don't really seem to exist

and we got a little lost coming out of the wood as the path off down the hill wasn't marked.

There were views once we emerged from Deepdale wood

and we walked across the RSPB reserve at Leighton Moss on the bridleway

From Leighton Moss we went to take the footpath to Red Bridge, but when we got to the start there was a notice telling us it was closed

So we walked back and over the bridge to the south of the station and across the golf course

On The Row, we decided to go and look at Burton Well

and then came to Silverdale Green

going along Stankelt Rd into the middle of Silverdale
