Stolen Children of the UK Vigil

Downing St, London. Sat 5 Sep 2015

The vigil opposite Downing St began on July 19th. Originally they had planned to stay for a week, but

 decided to stay on.

Although many of the claims made by SCOTUK and other campaigners are hightly contested, there are clearly some highly unsatisfactory cases

Justice carried out in secret needs more checks, but many claims of 'ritual abuse' are unfounded and have been very damaging to some involved

All social workers are hard-pressed - and a small minority certainly behave badly

and the police investigations into paedophiles in high places give considerable cause for concern

Many families who have children taken from them understandably feel highly agreived, and sometimes the

reasons seem flimsy and insupportable. Like everything in this country, class comes into it, with social workers

often failing to understand how people live. The campaigners point out that if they had forgotten their kids when

they went to the pub like David Cameron, it might have led to them being regarded as inadequate parents and

having the children taken from them. Some cases seem to be based on simiilar flimsy evidence, along with a touch of prejudice.

Many of those involved in the campaign have had children taken from them, or from other faily members.

We only hear their side of the story, while sometimes judges seem only to hear what the profesisonals have to say

Some families clearly think that there was non one who really was able to present their side of the case

Of course the interests of the children involved are paramount, but they need to be carefully and rationally assessed

and there is clearly a need for greater care and more scrutiny
