Solidarity With Palestinian Prisoners

South Bank, London, Mon 10 Mar 2017

Inminds had set up the protest on theEmbankment in front of the Festival Hall

One of the campaigners was walking up and down with two large Palestinian flags

Others were chalking messages on the pavement and handing out leaflets to people walking by

A rectangle about 2 metres by 1m shows the size of underground dungeons in Israeli torture prisons like AL-Jalame

Chalk states 'HP Powered Israeli Dungeon for a child', though women such as Lena Jarboni are also held in these

window-less underground cells between interrogation sessions. She was forced to stand stationary in stress positions

during interrogation for up to 20 hours and her joints have never recovered. A chalk outline shows a child's body

and a circle for the earth closet - a hole in the ground..

HP provides computers and IT systems that keep torture dens and insanitary prisons like HaSharon where Lena Jarboni

is serving a 17 year sentence running. Israel has a systematic policy of medical negligence for Palestinian prisoners

with over a third of women prisoners suffering from treatable diseases being refused treatment. Lena Jarboni

can no longer walk after 14 years in jail and is not expected to survive the remaining time of her sentence.

The cells at HaSharon prison are overcrowded, dirty and infected with rats and cockroaches. There is a total lack

of basic hygiene. There is little ventilation and little light, and the food is often insufficient and often contains bugs.

Women prisoners are often subjected to beatings, insults and degrading strip searches with intrusive internal

 body searches used as punishments.

Lena Jarboni has Israeli citizenship. She was arrested in 2002 on suspicion of "collaborating with the enemy"

and tortured for 30 days. Her younger brother was brought in and tortured in front of her, then her young sister

finally they brought in her elderly month and threatened to torture her unless Lena signed a fabricated confession.

She signed because her mother was frail, sufferring from heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure and

she feared the torture would end her mother's life.
