Air Pollution Protest Blocks Brixton

Brixton, London. Thu 14 Sep 2017

The protesters explaine why they feel they have to protest to try and get some serous action from the Mayor and TfL

who they feel are not doing anything like enough while thousands are dying before their time because of the

pollution - largely caused by London's traffic.

Many pedestrians take photos and some congratulate the protesters for taking action

though not everyone is happy to see people trying to save the lives of their fellow citizens

As promised, after a few minutes the protesters move back to the pavement and the traffic flows again

Police finally arrive and ask the protesters what they intend to do. They reassure police they will not cause any long stoppages

Police work on the streets and suffer from the pollution

'Stop Killing Londoners' campaigners move onto the crossing for a second short protest

Again explaining what they are doing and why

A cyclist stops and supports the protesters

Many cyclists are also aware of the pollution crisis on our streets - and some also campaign and protest against it

Again the protest is a short one - long enough to make a point and perhaps get some publicity but a hold-up for

traffic shorter than often takes place at many of London's road junctions.
