Star Wars Strike Picket Picturehouse

A few BECTU members were picketing the cinema where the latest Star
Wars film was to open later that evening
They talked to people coming in and out of the cinema. Some sympathised
with the workers and there were
were cheers when some decided they would not cross the picket line
Other workers and supporters were gathering a few yards away
with a few holding placards
and others handing out leaflets to people walking along the pavement
More people were due to arrive later and the protest was expecting
customers with tickets for Star Wars to
start arriving later in the evening
Rob Williams and others from the National Shop Stewards Network had
came to support the strikers
The flier being handed out had the message 'Always Let Your Conscience
Be Your GUide'
Some of the placards were simple messages 'Living Wage 4 Picture House
Staff' and 'Living Staff Living Wage'
'Poverty Wages are Horror'
But others used quotations from films such as 'The Dude Minds Man! This
Just Won't Stand'
