Derbyshire Snow

Beeley, Derbyshire. Fri 29 Dec 2017

 The Chatsworth Road was well-gritted

We parked close to the Devonshire Arms - like most of the village owned by the Duke

A snow plough drives past on the main road but doesn't venture into the village

 We walked up this road

 past the former chapel

 and the recreation ground

looking back the way we had come

Beeley Church - St Anne - is Norman, with parts at least dating from 1150 but much 'restored' in the nineteenth century

There was more snow on the hills around

and some weirdly orange sky in the distance

clouds of mist rolled towards us

until the landscape became almost invisible

you can see much more in this photograph than with the eye
