Free Ahed Tamimi & all child prisoners
US Embassy, London. Sat 13 Jan 2018
People slowly gather for the protest organised by Zoe Zeero at short
notice and with relatively little publicity
Dolls and a bear for the protest - with a photograph of one of the
jailed children, Abdul Khalik
Nana Hourihah's grandmother left Palestine around the time the state
of Israel was formed. A few years ago she
found out more about her family back in Palestine and went to meet
them and stay with them in Nabi Saleh. Her cousin is Bassem Tamimi, who
has
been imprisoned several times by the Israelis for protesting about
the occupation of his lands. His daughter is Ahed Tamimi.
'Justice Now!' Make it right for Palestine'
The protesters shout for the release of Ahed and the other roughly
300 child prisoners
Children arrested for minor offences - often committed by others -
can get sentenced to 20 years in the military
courts which have a conviction rate of over 99% and are more a formality
than any proper trial.
Palestinians in the occupied territories are under military law -
while only Israel's civil law applies to the illegal settlers
and the Israeli authorities largely turn a blind eye to their crimes
against Palestinians.
'Israel Stop Jailing Kids'
Nana Hourriyah decide to make a speech to camera with the lone Zionist
counter-protester in the background
who shouted a few comments, accusing the protesters of lying and of
being supporters of Hamas (which most were not)
Nana Hourriyah points at the poster of her cousin's daughter, Ahed
Tamimi
still held in an Israeli jail
Nana Hourriyah introduces Zoe Zeero who organised the protest and
who spoke about the situaiton in Palestine
Robert Inlakesh who recently spent three months staying in Palestine
with people, including a young boy who
has been arrested, and was deported for taking part in peaceful protests.
Some of the protesters went to shout at the lone Zionist, telling
him he was speading lies and had no idea of
what was actually happening to the Palestinians in the occupied territories.
