Ladbroke Grove Pret-a-Manger land theft

The protesters were vusy handing out leaflets, and a very high proportion
of people took them, some stopping to talk
and there was an obvious high degree of community support.
'Stop giving away our stuff. It's rude.'

A man walking past stops to talk and reminds the protesters about
the community fights of the past
Building the Westway in 1964-70 created 23 acres of derelict land
below it. Direct action by the community meant these 23 acres
were given to the local people as compensation for their continued
suffering during the long period of construction and afterwards.
The Westway Trust was established to make use of the land, but now
the local community say it has betrayed them
and they set up Westway23 who were the main group behind this protest
to try to protect their interests.
A group of drummers arrived and the protest moved to a new level
Although some people remained inside Pret, clearly the protest stopped
some from entering
and some who took the leaflets on their way out said they didn't know
about it and would not go there again

As said goodbye and left people were still dancing and drumming and
were intending to continue until Pret closed for the night.
