DPAC protest GTR rail discrimination

London Bridge Station, London. Mon 21 May 2018

Paula Peters speaking outside London Bridge station. People who need assistance should be able to use trains

just like everyone else. Turn up, buy a ticket and get on a train.

Making trains accessible isn't difficult. A guard can put down a ramp in seconds and take it up again rapidly.

'We have a Right to Ride'

and all it needs are a few minor works at some stations to put in ramps and a guard on the train with a simple ramp

Many stations have already been equipped with lifts to make them accessible. The RMT is fighting to keep a
guard on every train for safety reasons - and the guard can also enable wheelchair users to safely board and leave.

Most rail journey times have had several minutes added to them simply to enable railway companies to avoid fines
but the companies now propose not to allow trains to stop for long enough to let wheelchair users board.
