Extinction Rebellion roadblock

Parliament Square. London. Sat 31 Oct 2018

A woman sings at the protest

 and a Muslim woman speaks

Swedish schoolgirl Greta Thunberg sits in the crowd of people blocking the roadway

Others have locked on in the road in front of Parliament

Some lay on the ground with wreaths and joined hands

and others held large banners across the road

A man stands on an anarchist flag and berates the police for protecting those who are destroying our planet

Police officers talk to those taking part in the lock-in

Between speeches and songs the drummers play

George Monbiot makes a final address after the road block has gone on for around an hour and a half

As his speech ends one of the organisers says that people can now leave

Donnachadh McCarthy gets up and says he is going to keep blocking the road and expects to be arrested
He invites others to also stay

George Barda also suggests that people might like to stay and while most leave, enough remain to keep the road blocked
