Nine Elms Wander

Nine Elms, London. Fri 21 Dec 2018

The development along Nine Elms Lane covers a huge area, close to a square mile

 and includes the US embassy

where police cars are parked waiting for a protest. But there were no protesters at the time it was supposed to

start. I waited for around ten minutes, then decided to go for a walk around the area and come back

 later for the protest

I've photographed these blocks of flats from the train, but this was the first time I'd walked by them

'The Residence' is next to the US Embassy, but the ambassador lives in Regent's Park

It was windy and the US flag was flying well in front of the embassy

There were still no protesters around, so I took a short walk by the RIver Thames

The development area stretches to the former power station at Battersea

I photographed a ship which made regular daily trips bringing gravel to this pier from the Thames estuary a few years ago

Back at the embassy there were still no protesters. One I knew arrived a few minutes later also looking for the protest.

After around an hour waiting, I walked back up to Vauxhall Station to see if I could find any protesters on their
way, but met none and so I caught the train home.
