Staines walk

Staines, Spelthorne. Sun 3 Feb 2019

A diesel railcar ran along this line when I came to Staines as a boy

and we caught the train from Staines West to Poyle Halt

Graffiti on the former rail bridge which took the line to West Drayton under the Staines bypass

parts of the line remain in place

Trees grow up through the track. The last trains ran on this stretch in the 1960s., closing to passengers in 1965

Trains ran to an oil depot in Staines on the old Goods Yard until 1981, when the line was closed off by the construction of the M25

A short section of track remained in Staines and was connected to the Staines to Windsor line. It closed in 1991
and the Oil depot was replaced by flats. The line still exists between West Drayton and a fuel Heathrow terminal
at Colnbrook just to the north of the level crossing over the Old Bath Road.

Between the old line and the Staines to Windsor line

The West Drayton line went across the Wraysbury RIver on a bridge here, then over the WIndsor line

The Windsor line goes over the Wraysbury River. Behind is the brick side of the embankment which once carried
the West Drayton branch, with a bridge over the WIndsor line to the right of the picture.
