Extinction Rebellion Hackney Street Party

Kingsland High St, Dalston, London. Sat 9 Feb 2019

Campiagners meet up in front of Dalston Kingsland station

There were Extinction Rebellion flags to be handed out to people

and some had brought placards from other groups including the SWP 'No to Fracking - Climate jobs now'

A woman offers flags to people at the protest

As the pavement in front of the station became overcrowded, people were asked to move to the other side of

the road, in front of Ridley Road market

People from in frong of the station begin to cross the road to protest outside a shopping centre

where the first musical entertainment of the street party began, with a bass palyer and a drummer

 and some singing and dancing

The signal was given to block the road , with banners closing it off at north and south of the party area

A little traffic was held up, but most got diverted

Most XR road blocks have been short, often repeated several times, but this one lasted two hours

The samba band had arrived and was very much making itself heard

and peole were dancing to it

XR says the government is failing to tell the truth - and beleiving its own propaganda

our situation is crticial, but the actions so far have been largely token

We need drastic change - and the rebellion hopes to get things moving so life can continue on the planet
