Scrap Universal Credit
Parliament Square, London. Fri 1 Mar 2019
Disabled protesters are slow to arrive in Parliament Square, partly
becuase of the chaos caused by the striking taxi drivers
'Universal Credit - A grave issue
'I am here for everyone who is too disabled, impoverished & intimidated
to be here and for the Thouands silenced and killed by the Tories Cuts and
Austerity'
People including the heritage wardens stop and talk with the protesters
'R.I.P. 120,000 extra avoidable deaths...' is the message on a a tombstone

Many die within a few weeks of being declared 'fit to work' by a corrupt
system devised by the DWP which ignores
much medical evidence and is carelessly employed by unqualified staff
who are given incentives to fail claimants.
Around 70% of those who appeal are successful - though too many are
dead by the time their appeals come up for hearing.
It is a cruel, inhuman system and has been condemned by several investigations,
but it, along with unfair
sanctions used to remove benefits, continue.
