Azerbaijanis & Armenians at Turkish Embassy

Turkish Embassy, London. Wed 24 Apr 2019

There were still no buses down Park Lane and I had to walk to the Turkish Embassy, where the Armenians were just setting up

beyond them were another group of protesters, with various flags,

from countries which were once part of the Ottoman Empire. Below the Turkish flag is that of East Turkestan

On the fence was a banner from the South Azerbaijan Indpendence Party

The blue flag with a yellow sun is for Kazakhstan and the green one is for Turkmenistan

The white flag with red stripes, crescent and star is for Turkish Northern Cyprus

The blue red and green flag is the South Azerbaijan Independence Party flag

Back with the Armenians, a banner commemorates Armenian Commander Nubar Ozanyan (1956-2017) who
died fighting ISIS at Raqqa in 2017; with the message "From Palestine to Karabakh, from Basri to Rojava,
Hi, Commander. You were our guide."

Qarabag Futbol Klubu was one of the founders of the Azerbaijan Premier League, base in Baku since the Nagorno-Karabakh war.

'Justice for Khojaly' - massacres by Armenians in the Nagorno-Karabakh war, the largest at Khojaly in 1992, killed between 161 and 613 civilians.

Only a few Armenians had turned up and were standing behind a long version of their flag when I left.
More were expected later as the protest was to continue for several hours longer.
