XR call for Ecocide Law

 Protesters with banners block the Strand

 and the blue yacht Polly Higgins is in front of the ROyal Courts of Justice with a flag 'Make Ecocide Law'

 Scottish barrister Polly Higgins who fought for years for an Ecocide Law died of cancer this April, only 50.

 When I arrived a ceremony was taking place with people bringing water from across the country to pour into a large bowl

 Each person told were the water was from

 The Strand was blocked all day by protesters

 

 Some held XR flags or posters - including this 'Pick Your SIde' pme

 

 Three drummers played during the ceremony

 People come and stir the water and make wishes (or something)

 

 and then come and add flowers and other stuff

 

 Among the group presiding over the ceremony was a man in druid costume

 

 

 

 

 THe bowl was carried in front of the Law Courts - where there was the chalked message 'Act Now! Make Ecocide a Crime!'

 The druid filled a horn from the bowl and took it and poured a libation in front of the Law Courts

 and people closed their eyes and raised their hands...

 Later there were speeches - including from Rupert Read

  Sue Hampton, an ambassador for Alopecia UK with a poster 'Ecocide is a Crime'

 Donnachadh McCarthy speaks and reads a long letter to the police

 people listen in the crowd

 

 

  Deputy Leader of the Green Party Amelia Womack

 

  Labour MP Sue Hayman, shadow minister for the environment, food and rural affairs

 

 The giant pink dodo gets some attention before the march

 'Ecocide Will Kill Us All'

 People dance in front ot the Polly Higgins

 and chalk on the pavement

 A woman dances with two flags

 The crew get the Polly Higgins ready for the procession to Waterloo Millenium Gardens

 The 'ACT NOW' bicycle and sound system is going to lead the procession

 

A singer makes the final performance outside the Law Courts
