Silverdale Holiday

Silverdale, Lancashire & Ulverston, Cumbria. Mon 24- Tue 25 Aug 2015

Clear air and a view across the bay to Heysham Nuclear Power Station

A line of clouds that made me think of a steam engine at work

 The Cove and the moon

People walking their dog on the sands

Tuesday

Tuesday morning we walked to the station. The most direct route was along a footpath to The Row

and then down The Row to another path across the golf course.

The station is now private housing. 'Sunny Silverdale - The loveiest spot on Morecambe Bay'

And took the train

through Grange-over-Sands

and across the Leven estuary

to Ulverston

where outside the Coronation Hall

we met Laurel & Hardy. There is a museum inside we didn't enter

Stan Laurel is the only famous person ever born in Ulverston - or so it seems. Bill Haley's mother was born here too.

There are some nice old shopping streets and a covered market
where we bought some sandwiches and delicious home-made quiche for our picnic lunch -

and a rather fancy Lloyds bank
